Cure Is Our Goal
We’re a committed, caring team of health care professionals who treat children with cancer and blood disorders. We combine our academic, clinical and research backgrounds with determination and passion to strive toward—or meet—our goal of curing disease in children.
A longstanding and powerful collaboration with Masonic Cancer Center, University of Minnesota allows our patients access to the latest advances in the treatment of cancer and diseases of the blood. Ranked among the best in the nation in pediatric cancer by U.S. News & World Report, we constantly strive to improve everything, from the cures themselves to the supportive care that make the cures more tolerable for children. We never stop looking for ways to improve and enhance treatments.
Communication and collaboration between specialties is a key factor in our success. From highly trained physicians, nurses, radiologists, physical therapists, care coordinators, nutritionists, pharmacists, child-family life specialists, social workers and more, all the services children need to get better are all under one roof.
Specialized Cancer Treatments
When your child is battling a life-threatening cancer, it is imperative that you seek out the most advanced and innovative treatment options available. The pediatric cancer program at University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital offers a creative and multidisciplinary approach to treating childhood cancers and other hematologic conditions.
We strive to offer solutions that will lessen pain and suffering for your child. We treat the whole child, taking into account mental and social factors along with their physical well-being. Our doctors and staff are compassionate while offering some of the best medical treatments and advice in the country.
More Clinical Trials at University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital
At our children’s hospital, we house the only National Cancer Institute-funded Children’s Oncology Group Phase 1 Program in the state. Holding this title means we are able to offer more clinical trials than other hospitals in the area.
More clinical trials mean more chances of finding an answer for your child’s condition. We give patients access to new treatments before they are widely available. This could be the opportunity your child needs to become a survivor.
One of the Nation’s Most Advanced Survivorship Programs
The number of childhood cancer survivors is growing, but so is the number of survivors who develop late-effects from the treatments of their childhood cancers.
Our specialists are committed to helping our young survivors live full, productive, active and healthy lives after the cure. We house the only survivorship program in the region that is able to offer care specific to survivors of pediatric cancer, regardless of a patient’s age. Patients have access to a wide array of clinical specialties and leading-edge survivorship research.
